Get a phone number for OpenAI verification
Get a number, enter it in OpenAI, and the code shows up on this site as soon as the SMS reaches us. Each number is $1, paid from your balance. If no SMS arrives within 20 minutes, the money goes back to your balance.
How it works for OpenAI
- 1
Get a number
Keep Best available or pick a country. The number appears on screen as soon as it’s paid from your balance.
- 2
Enter it in OpenAI
Paste the number where OpenAI asks for your phone number, and ask it to send the code.
- 3
Copy your code
The code shows up on the order page when the SMS reaches us. No SMS within 20 minutes? The money goes back to your balance.
Good to know for OpenAI
OpenAI doesn’t usually ask for a phone number to use ChatGPT. It asks for one when you create your first API key on the OpenAI platform, and sometimes when you start using Codex.
- Ask for the code by text message (SMS). A code sent by WhatsApp won’t reach our numbers.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication with an authenticator app in your account’s security settings.
Questions about OpenAI numbers
Do I need a phone number for ChatGPT?
Usually not. OpenAI says phone verification isn’t generally needed to create an account or use ChatGPT. It asks for a number when you create your first API key, and you may be asked when you start using Codex.
What if the OpenAI code doesn’t arrive?
Give it a minute, then ask OpenAI to send the code again. If no SMS reaches the number within 20 minutes, the order is refunded to your balance automatically, and you can try another country.
Will OpenAI accept the number?
Most apps accept our numbers, but no app accepts every number. If OpenAI rejects one, cancel the order before an SMS arrives and the money goes back to your balance.
Can I use the number again later?
No. The number receives codes only while its 20-minute window is open. Once you’re in, add an email or an authenticator app to your OpenAI account, so you can still sign in later.
Which country should I choose?
Keep Best available unless OpenAI needs a number from a particular country. It picks the country most likely to deliver for OpenAI.
